The original plan for the Cellforce Group included launching a production site in Kirchentellinsfurt with a capacity of around 1 gigawatt-hour (GWh). However, this plan has been deemed unrealistic from today’s perspective. Instead, the focus will shift to research and development. Cellforce Group will continue to invest in all-electric models with high-performance batteries, utilizing the expertise gained over the years.
Steiner mentioned that the new R&D unit could play a crucial role in Porsche’s future endeavors. The subsidiary’s expertise will also support V4Smart, a German company specializing in ultra-high-performance lithium-ion round cells, which Porsche acquired in March 2025.
